Getinge Group, Business Area Medical Systems acquire the US Company Datascope Corporation.
2008
Getinge Group, Business Area Medical Systems acquire the Cardiac Surgery and Vascular Surgery divisions of the Boston Scientific Corporation in USA. With this acquisition, Getinge will establish a base for building a global market-leading business in the area of cardiac surgery.
2007
Getinge Group, Business Area Extended Care acquires Huntleigh Healthcare. Extended Care business area becomes the world leader in integrated solutions for care of patients with reduced mobility.
2005
To advance Getinge Infection Controls position in the life science market, the French company La Calhène was acquired during the second quarter of 2005. Activities in the Asian market included the establishment of a sales company in Singapore to enable efficient mangagement of the growing markets of South East Asia.
To strengthen commercial expertise in the hospital segment, new management for the US market organization was appointed in the second quarter of 2005.
2004
During 2004, a major invesment in the Chinese market began with the decisions to both establish the business area's own manufacturing in Suzhou City and considerably expand the Chinese sales organization. The American assembly plant reported considerably improved profitability during the year. As an element in the concentration and specialization of production, the Australian plant was closed in 2004. Getinge 100 years. A century of development, from wind turbines to global leadership.
2003
A number of activities were implemented in 2003 to strengthen Getinge's profile as a system supplier. In France, Getinge is involved in a joint venture running a sterilization center that supplies several hospitals in the Paris region with disinfected and sterilized instruments on a contractual basis.
The change process that started in 2002 continued during 2003. Production in France and parts of production in the US have moved to Sweden. The unit in the US is now purely an assembly plant and integrated in the overall production structure.
Two distinct competence centers with global responsibility for sterilization and disinfection have been established in Getinge and Växjö respectively. The respective units are responsible for development and production. The sales force has been complemented with specialists in T-DOC in order to support sales of this strategically important product.
2002
The business area's program for a more effective production structure for sterilizers has to all intents and purposes finished and this will have a strongly positive impact on results with effect from 2003. During the coming year work aimed at improving the effectiveness of production in Rochester, US, will continue.
2001
The French company, ALM, is acquired. It is a world-leading manufacturer of surgical lights, and complements the product range offered by the Medical Systems business area. Getinge has around 5,500 employees and sales are expected to exceed SEK 7 billion.
2000
Getinge's Extended Care business area expands through the acquisition of Parker Bath in the UK, Lenken Healthcare in Ireland and Gestion Techno-Médic in Canada. The German group, Maquet, a world-leading manufacturer of surgical tables, is acquired and forms the basis for a new business area, Medical Systems. Getinge's sales exceed SEK 5 billion and the number of employees is over 5,000.
1999
Getinge acquires 25% of the IT company Lunatronic in Denmark.
1998
Getinge's business area Infection Control expands through the acquisition of Kemiterm in Denmark, MTP in the US, Omasa in Italy, Royal Linden in the Netherlands and SMI/BBC in France. In the Extended Care business area, Pegasus and Egerton in the UK plus Medibol in the Netherlands are acquired. The Wound Care business unit is created in connection with the acquisition of Pegasus. The subsidiary Lifco is distributed among the shareholders.
1997
Carl Bennet AB becomes the principal owner. The Group achieves sales of over SEK 4 billion and has 3,500 employees.
1996
The MDT Corporation in the US is acquired and becomes a major part of the Infection Control business area.
1995
Getinge merges with the Swedish company Arjo, specialized and world-leading in products for geriatric care relating to hygiene and patient handling. This was the basis for the future business area, Extended Care. In addition, Peristel in France and Anzy Sterilizer in South Africa, both active in the hospital sterilization sector, are acquired. The distribution company, Lic Care (now Lifco) is acquired and forms its own business area. Getinge has sales of around SEK 3 billion and over 2,500 employees.
1994
The French disinfection company, Lancer, and the sales companies D.S.E. in the Netherlands and D.S.E. in Belgium are acquired. Getinge's sales exceed SEK 1 billion.
1993
Getinge Industrier AB is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. The UK sterilization company British Sterilizer and the French disinfection company Stirn Industries are acquired. Getinge has around 1,000 employees.
1992
Getinge establishes sales companies in Austria and Hong Kong. A sales office is set up in China.
1991
A sales company is established in Poland and sales offices are set up in Slovenia and Italy.
1990
Getinge establishes sales companies in Denmark, Finland and Norway, and acquires the disinfection company Scott Western in England.
1989
Rune Andersson and Carl Bennet acquire the company from Electrolux.
