Sterilization in the Production Environment
 | | Contamination Prevention Systems from Getinge | The pharmaceutical manufacturing environment has a variety of applications requiring sterilization, for example, equipment parts, containers and final product. In particular, all drugs / delivery systems which by-pass the body’s immune system (e.g. injectable) must be sterile and similarly medical devices used invasively must be sterile.
During and after production, quality assurance testing must be carried out to continuously monitor both the environment and product. These applications too require similar contamination prevention measures to eliminate the risk of expensive erroneous results.
Getinge offers dedicated sterilization equipment for each of these applications, all based on the same principles of rugged construction, cost effectiveness, productivity and longevity.

| | Sterilizers for the production environment | GE Series steam sterilizers are the industry workhorse, and may be used (in P configuration) for the sterilization of components, such as change parts, as well as Terminal Sterilization of some types of product (e.g. Ampoules, Vials). The L and Q configurations are adapted for the QA laboratory to sterilize, for example, glassware and culture media (the Q configuration being of cGMP specification).
GEV Series Steam & Air Mix sterilizers are highly flexible units, also suitable for components, but are especially effective when used for Terminal Sterilization of product in delicate packaging. Smaller GEV models may also be used in the laboratory environment for rapid processing of materials, including delicate culture media.
GEC Series Water Cascade sterilizers are designed for high capacity processing of injectable fluids, such as IV and TPN solutions.
GEE Series Ethylene Oxide sterilizers are designed for low temperature sterilization of bulk medical devices in final packaging.
